We have just had the best day!
The sun shone, we were in a beautiful place, with wonderful people doing all sorts of creative things! It was our Homeschool group’s end of year Market Day….
Charlie sold muffins and popcorn, had a lucky dip, a raffle and a guess how many lollies in the jar competition
He did a steady, brisk trade until the end and somehow made $18 with only charging 10 or 20 cents for things!
There was a huge variety of stalls that the children had put together, alot of yummy homemade baking, lemonade, elderflower cordial & ginger beer. I had a very accurate palm reading and the kids braved Walker’s scary stall where you could feel brains, rotten eyeballs or dead hands!
Hannah braves the “dead hand” box….and paid for the privilege!
Henry, Charlie’s best mate, sold 9 litres of lemonade and ginger beer! He hardly had time to eat lunch he was so busy.
Toby was selling these cool bubble socks. You cover a bottle with an old sock (great way to use up those odd socks!), then dip the end in a shampoo mixture (shampoo and water) and blow through the bottle ….see the massive bubble snake that comes out!
Running alongside we had a huge shared lunch and also a judging table where two of the girls had organised three sections that others could enter – sand saucers, cakes and pets. There were some very creative and wonderful entries and had gorgeous prizes and certificates.
Some of the sand saucers…
Ollie made a three tier chocolate cake decorated with Borage flowers which won first place in the judging.
Charlie entered some cupcakes he iced and he sold the rest on his stall.
Charlie receiving his prize – a teddy along with a chocolate, a muffin and certificate.
A cool castle cake
But wait there’s more! We also had a huge pile of clothes to rummage through! A favourite for many of us. Many people left with bags and bags of clothes – as many were ours to begin with we were very careful not to over-rummage….
It is so lovely seeing all the young girls running around in Hannah’ s old dancing costumes! And enjoying them so much.
Henry and Charlie examine their prizes, while next to them Rhianna wears an old bridesmaid dress that was Kim’s and has been well loved by Hannah for years.
This was just the perfect event many of us agreed. We do a few of these type of events a year, very open ended, endless possibilities for the kids , plenty of scope for a relaxing day out with friends and fun for all.
Especially when the sun is shining….
I am so grateful to have such a lovely, supportive group of like minded homeschooling friends to hang out with.
